这次，BBC失望了...

新加坡总理李显龙本月2日接受英国广播公司（BBC）访谈节目“Talking Business Asia”的专访，就全球经济、地缘政治形势，新加坡采购中国疫苗，中美关系等问题发表看法。

采访过程中，BBC主持人多次诱导性提问，企图抓住李显龙涉及中国的负面言论。然而李显龙的回答，让试图标题党的BBC失望了。

“我相信他们有能力生产好的疫苗”

2月23日晚，新加坡政府采购的首批中国科兴新冠疫苗运抵新加坡。

李显龙在接受BBC采访时表示，相信中国有能力生产好的新冠疫苗。

对于主持人所谓 “疫苗已演变成政治课题”，“ 一个国家选择采用中国生产的疫苗还是其他疫苗，确实说明了它的立场”等刁钻设问，李显龙表示，疫苗不分国籍。

Last month, Singapore received the first shipment of a third vaccine–made by China’s Sinovac.

Asked whether Singapore was under pressure to use a Chinese-made vaccine, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that "vaccines do not carry a nationality."

“不论任何国家的疫苗，我们都会考虑使用，因为疫苗没有国籍之分。最重要的是，它好不好？有没有效？如果有效，我们就会采用。 ”

"We will use vaccines from any source. Vaccines do not carry a nationality. Is it good or is it no good? Does it work? If it does, then we will use it."

“中国有科兴、中国国药集团等（生产的）疫苗。他们有非常优秀的科学家、生物医药和疫苗研究人员。我相信他们有能力生产好的疫苗。”

"The Chinese have Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines and very capable scientists and vaccine researchers. I have no doubt they are capable of making good vaccines."

“我不认为人们有任何依据，说中国生产的疫苗不好，或者说中国生产的疫苗就一定好...疫苗就是疫苗。”

"I do not think there is any basis for people to say, a vaccine comes from China, it is no good, or conversely...vaccines are vaccines."

就李显龙涉中国疫苗的表态，中国外交部发言人赵立坚15日回应称，疫苗是抗击病毒的利器，是拯救生命的希望，应当服务全世界、造福全人类。“无论是哪个国家的疫苗，只要安全可靠，就是好疫苗。”

In response to Lee's comments on the Chinese vaccines, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Monday that vaccines are a powerful weapon against the virus."Regardless of where a vaccine is made, it is a good vaccine so long as it is safe and effective."

“我希望不会有需要选边站的一天”

谈到中美关系与第三国的选边问题时，李显龙重申，新加坡希望不会有需要选边站的一天。

It will not be possible for Singapore to choose between the United States and China, given the extensive ties the republic has with both superpowers, said Lee.

"I hope the time does not come," he said when asked which one Singapore will choose when the time comes.

“我们不可能选择任何一方，因为我们与美国和中国在经济及其他领域都有非常紧密和广泛的合作，许多其他国家也是如此。”

"It is not possible for us to choose one or the other because we have very intense and extensive ties with both the US and with China, economic as well as in other areas, and so do many other countries in the world. "

在被问到中美是否会发生真正的军事冲突时，李显龙称，现在比五年前更有可能发生这种情况，但中美发生军事冲突的可能性目前还不高。

Asked about how likely a real military conflict is between China and the U.S., Lee said it is more likely than it was five years ago, though the odds of a military clash are not yet high.

李显龙还称赞中国经济“具有强大的韧性、活力和潜力。”

Lee said the Chinese economy had "a lot of resilience, tremendous energy and creativity."

“中国人民积极进取，不断进步。如果有必要，他们可以靠自己的力量生存下去。但无论如何，他们都会不断前进，他们不会就此放弃。”

“It（China）has people who are on the move and are making great progress. If necessary, on their own, but anyway, they are going to move forward and they are not going to give up.”

主持人继而提问李显龙，“认为美国需要接受自己不再是世界第一大国吗？”

李显龙回答：

“美国仍是世界第一，但第二大国紧追其后，这是美国难以接受的事实。”

"The US is still number one, but number two is not so far behind. That is what is difficult for the US to accept."

自上世纪以来，中国与新加坡就保持着良好的双边关系，中新经贸合作发展迅速。

据外交部官网数据，2013年至2019年，中国连续7年成为新加坡最大贸易伙伴，新加坡连续7年成为中国第一大新增投资来源国。2019年双边贸易额为900亿美元，增长4.5%。
