本图绘册页十开,由清初著名宫廷画师郎世宁(1688—1766)绘制,郎世宁于康熙五十四年(1715)来中国传教,随即入宫进入如意馆,成为宫廷画家,曾参加圆明园西洋楼的设计工作,历任康、雍、乾三朝,在中国从事绘画达50多年。图绘铜胎掐丝珐琅共计十件,皆为传世重要名件,为历代皇室珍藏,乾隆皇帝尤宝爱之,命其绘制成册,以便随时翻阅,可见其珍贵。

袁江(1662年—1735年),字文涛,号岫泉,清康、雍、乾时期最杰出的界画家,是中国绘画史上有影响画家,宫廷画家,专攻山水楼阁界画。“绿野堂”是袁江笔下经常画的题材之一。“绿野堂”是一处历史上有典故的建筑物。它是唐朝著名宰相裴度的私人园林。他晚年退休至洛阳,在城郊建了园林,以“绿野堂”命名。他在庄园中宴请容留宾客,与会者皆以此为荣,一时传为佳话。袁江所画的“绿野堂”,都是环境优美,建筑精致的场所,应当是他们按照当时见到的南方园林建筑融会综合而画成的,既属于想象的产物,又有实际的建筑物为蓝本;此幅“绿野堂图”是袁江在康熙六十一年所画的作品,题识为“壬寅清和月、仿郭忠恕意、画于绿野堂、邗上袁江。”画上有气势磅礴的山水,还有造型严谨准确的亭台楼阁,线条舒展流畅,尺度宏大,形态稳定,整张画作看起来既自然又生动,无论是建筑还是山水都刻画得各尽其美,精细非凡。是袁江巅峰作品之一,非常值得收藏。

此类作品,因是皇帝谕旨订制,并归清宫保管,未见有赐予大臣的记录,故民间所见寥寥。十多年来国内拍卖中,仅见一幅同类作品,即中国嘉德1998年春拍423号作品—张为邦绘《乾隆皇帝御骑图》,时以113万元高价成交。冯宁此作尽管尺幅巨大,仍能保持清宫装裱,更属难得。
