喜报丨上海协和双语高级中学两名学生在剑桥课程考试中取得世界第一！

The Cambridge Assessment International Education Board held ceremonies in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen recently to award students with outstanding performance in the latest round of Cambridge exams in June. A total of 120 students have won this year’s Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards.

剑桥国际考试委员会近日在北京、上海和深圳三地举行了“剑桥卓越学子大奖”颁奖典礼，表彰在今年六月的剑桥考试中取得优异成绩的学子。共有120人次学生获得了今年的“剑桥卓越学子大奖”。

SUIS Gubei have two students who received Best in the World and Best in China awards for their CIE IGCSE Exams. They are Xixi Lei, G10 and Joe Eng, G11.

上海协和双语高级中学有两位学生拿到了剑桥课程考试中世界第一和中国第一的好成绩。他们分别是10年级的雷西羲同学和11年级的翁宇翔同学。

Xixi received her awards for Maths and Joe for Co-ordinated Science and Information Technology.

雷西羲同学拿到了数学学科世界第一和中国第一的荣誉，而翁宇翔同学则拿到了综合科学和信息技术两门学科世界第一和中国第一的证书。

How does it feel to be recognized by being awarded an elite academic prize?

拿到世界第一的好成绩你有什么感想？

Xixi:I’m thrilled to receive this prize. It’s like my hard work has really paid off. I’m even more glad that my parents are so pleased as they have always been so supportive of my studies.

雷西羲：得到这样的成绩让我欣喜若狂。我感觉付出的努力没有白费。更让我开心的是，我的父母为此感到欣慰，他们一直在背后默默地支持我。

Joe:I never expected to receive such an award, so it was quite a pleasant surprise for me.

翁宇翔：我没想到我会拿到如此好的成绩，这对我来说是莫大的惊喜。

How would you describe the community at SUIS GUBEI?

你对协和高中的印象是什么？

Xixi: SUIS GUBEI is a very tight-knit and friendly community. I know almost all the teachers very well, both from classes and after-school clubs. They are all so willing to spend lunch or break times to answer extra questions or give extra help if needed. They are very approachable and makes learning an enjoyable experience.

雷西羲：协和高中是一所组织管理严密并且师生校园氛围很好的学校。我对这里的每一位老师都很熟悉，不论是任课老师还是课外活动课的老师。所有老师都很愿意并且耐心地在午休和课间休息时间回答我们的问题，在学习上给了我们很大的帮助，他们都很亲切，使学习的过程变得轻松愉快。

Joe: The community here is quite large, and with so many people to talk to, I never feel alone when having to get through any task. I’ll help someone when they need help, they’ll help me when I need help, so everyone wins.

翁宇翔：协和高中是个大家庭，当我遇到任何问题的时候都不会觉得孤单，因为在这里我有很多的同学和朋友可以沟通。当他们需要帮助的时候我可以帮助他们，我需要帮助的时候他们也很积极的给与我帮助，这绝对是一个团结互助的学校。

What makes the school so wonderful? (What do you enjoy about being here?)

学校的优势是哪些？（你为什么喜欢在这里读书？）

Xixi: The wide range of activities offered at SUIS GUBEI help us grow and develop in many different ways. The various sports teams include football, basketball, volleyball, touch rugby, tennis, badminton, swimming, track-and-field. GUBEI also puts emphasis on the arts and more academic events, such as the biannual production, the arts soirees, film club, the science fair, and debate competitions.

雷西羲：协和高中选择多样的课外活动可以提供给我全方面的发展。这里的体育队涉及广泛，有足球，篮球，排球，触式橄榄球，网球，羽毛球，游泳还有田径。协和高中也非常重视让学生参与更多的艺术和学活动，例如一年两次的音乐剧，艺术节，电影展，科学展，还有各种辩论赛。

The thing I love the most is that almost all the clubs are student-led. The school encourages us to form our own clubs and pursue our individual interests, adding on to the school’s diversity. This helps us develop leadership skills and learn to be independent, which is valuable preparation for the future.

我最喜欢的是，所有的活动都是我们学生自己组织领导的。学校鼓励我们根据自己的兴趣爱好自己建立社团、组织活动，从而使学校的生活丰富多彩。自己组织领导让我们锻炼了自己的领导能力，在处理事情的时候更有独立性，这是对于我们未来的学习和发展非常有意义的。

For instance, I have been involved in the World Scholar’s Cup competition since seventh grade. Through the competition, I greatly improved by debating skills, expanded my general knowledge, and my analytical abilities. On November 8, I went to Yale University for the final round of this season. It was challenging, of course, but I really enjoyed it.

举个例子，我从7年级开始就加入世界学者杯比赛了，通过比赛，我提高了辩论能力，拓宽了视野，并且提高了自己的分析能力。11月8日，我参加了本季度耶鲁大学世界学者杯的决赛。这是一次充满挑战的比赛，但我很享受比赛的过程。

Joe: This school is not perfect, and there are some things that need working on, but one of the best things about this school is how devoted the teachers and students are towards the projects they work on. The musical productions are always so much fun to watch, thanks to the consistently outstanding performances that we get to see every year.

翁宇翔：协和高中虽然还有一些方面需要完善，但是最让人印象深刻的是老师和学生们对于学习和工作的热情和投入。每年的音乐剧总是学校活动的亮点，我很感激每年在学校都可以看到这么优秀的表演。

Q

In what ways do the teachers in SUIS GUBEI prepare you for CIE excellence?

协和高中老师在哪些方面帮助你在剑桥课程考试中拿到这么优秀的成绩的？

Xixi:My Maths teacher gave us lots of past papers to practice which was very helpful.

雷西羲：我的数学老师给了我很多往年的试卷做练习对我帮助很大。

Joe: The quality of teaching varies from teacher to teacher, I think I was extremely lucky in my IGCSE years to have been taught by some of the most excellent teachers. I have to thank especially the science department for hosting lunchtime revision classes during the last few weeks before the exams, which helped me achieve such great results.

翁宇翔：我很幸运有这么优秀的教师团队给予我学习上的支持和帮助。我很感谢科学组老师们在考试前几周的午休时间为我们组织的复习课程，让我受益匪浅。

Where do you see yourself going once you complete your education at SUIS GUBEI?

在协和高中毕业后你们有什么打算？

Xixi: I plan to go to US for college, and I hope to major something engineering related, although I also have interests in history and German.

雷西羲：我打算申请美国的大学并且申请工程相关的专业。当然我对历史和德文也很感兴趣。

Joe: Two years of National Service in Singapore, then hopefully off to university.

翁宇翔：毕业后我会回到新加坡服兵役2年，在那之后再申请大学。
