1.美国——ACT与SAT

The ACT and SAT are standardized tests for high school achievement and college admissions in the United States.

ACT measures high school students' general educational development and their capability to complete college-level work with the multiple choice tests covering four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The optional Writing Test measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.

The main four tests are scored individually on a scale of 1–36, and a Composite score is provided which is the whole number average of the four scores.

Now all four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. accept the ACT, but different institutions place different emphases on standardized tests such as the ACT, compared to other factors of evaluation such as class rank, GPA, and extracurricular activities.

The SAT assesses how well the test takers analyze and solve problems. It consists of three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing, and each major section is divided into three parts.

There are 10 sub-sections in total, including an additional 25-minute experimental or "equating" section that may be in any of the three major sections. The experimental section is used to normalize questions for future administrations of the SAT and does not count toward the final score.

Most of the questions on the SAT, except for the essay and the grid-in math responses, are multiple choices. In the SAT, total scores are calculated by adding up scores of the three sections.

The test is administered under a tight time limit to help produce a range of scores. The current SAT, takes three hours to finish, plus 50 minutes for the SAT with essay.

The SAT is offered four times a year in the United States: in October, December, March (or April, alternating) and May. In other countries, the SAT is offered on the same dates as in the United States except for the first spring test date (i.e., March or April), which is not offered.

2.英国——GCE Advanced Level

The GCE Advanced Level, or A-Level, is a secondary school leaving qualification in the United Kingdom, offered as a main qualification in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, as an alternative qualification in Scotland, and as an international school qualification worldwide.

A-Levels is recognized by many universities as the standard for assessing the suitability of applicants for admission in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

It requires studying an offered A-Level subject over a two-year period and sitting for an examination at the end of each year (A1/S and A2, respectively). The pass grades for A Levels are, from highest to lowest, A*, A, B, C, D and E. The process to decide these grades involves the uniform mark scheme (UMS).

A Levels的通过等级从高到底分别是A*、B、C、D和E。

Under this scheme, four-module A levels have a maximum mark of 400 UMS (or 200 UMS each for AS and A2), and six-module A levels have a maximum mark of 600.

A number of countries, including Singapore, Kenya, Mauritius and Zimbabwe have developed qualifications with the same name as and a similar format to the British A-Levels.

3.法国——Baccalauréat (BAC)

The BAC, is an academic qualification which French students take at the end of high school. It was introduced by Napoleon I in 1808.

It is the main diploma required to pursue university studies. Although it is not legally required, the vast majority of students in their final year of secondary school take the exam.

Most examinations are given in essay-form. The student is given a substantial block of time (depending on the exam, from two to five hours) to complete a multiple-page, well-argued paper. Therefore, the French Baccalauréat is not a completely standardized test.

Since most answers — even for biology questions — are given in essay form, the grades may vary from grader to grader especially in subjects like philosophy and French literature.
