SINGAPORE – GOOGLE’S JOB SERVICE LAUNCHES IN SINGAPORE
(Aug.10, 2018, /staffingindustry.com/)Google launched its job service in Singapore. The job search tool will be a feature built directly into Google Search.
The feature will see job listings pulled from more than 1,500 sites including MyCareersFuture.sg, FastJobs, JobsCentral, LinkedIn, Monster, Payscale and Randstad. When users perform a job search in the search bar they will now be able to see a consolidated list of job openings from hundreds of thousands of jobs posted on these sites.
Users performing a search for job roles or skills sing keywords such as "part-time jobs", "internships", and "admin jobs" – or similar unique job seeking queries – will trigger a special module to pop up in the search results. By clicking on the listing, users will be able to see information such as job title and location, as well as reviews and ratings of the employers by sources such as Glassdoor and Payscale.
The aim is to make it quicker and easier for jobseekers to search for jobs as they will not have to visit multiple websites to search for jobs. However, jobseekers will still have to apply directly through the website that first posted the position.
The launch in Singapore is the first in Southeast Asia. Google for Jobs was first launched last year in the US while Google launched its job search service in the UK last month.
“There’s a clear need from Singaporeans to be able to go online to find a job. Job seekers already turn to Google Search when they’re looking for a job, and in the past year we’ve seen 14 per cent growth in mobile searches for jobs and career queries compared to the previous year,” Joy Xi, product manager at Google Search said.
“Aside from users, businesses and job providers will also benefit from the new feature, as Google has released open documentation which will allow them to publish their job openings on the new search experience and make their listings "more discoverable, creating a win-win situation for both job-seekers and employers", Xi said.
