Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei earlier claimed that the U.S. package delivery company diverted two parcels destined for Huawei addresses in Asia to the United States and attempted to reroute two others, Reuters reported.

According to the images of FedEx tracking records provided by Huawei, FedEx diverted two packages sent from Japan and addressed to Huawei in China to the United States, and attempted to divert two more packages sent from Vietnam to Huawei offices elsewhere in Asia, all without authorization.

Huawei said the four packages only contained documents and “no technology." It also stated that the company would review the logistics and document delivery support requirements as a direct result of these incidents. Meanwhile, the company has had already filed a complaint with China's postal regulator.

The FedEx Corp. on Tuesday apologized on its official Weibo account for mishandling Huawei's packages. The FedEx said that there was no "external pressure" demanding transshipment.

"We value all our customers who hand more than 15 million packages to us per day. We apologize for the erroneous shipment," said FedEx in its Weibo account. "Those mishandled packages are on the way to the sender."

However, many netizens found that the package delivery company issued a statement on last Thursday, where the company had denied the "rumor" circulating on social media sites that it "diverted customers' packages to the United States."

FedEx's apologies triggered backlash among both Chinese and American netizens.

Many Chinese netizens questioned FedEx's explanation on the "mishandling error," saying "how errors only happened to Huawei's four packages among 15 million packages." Americans tweeted that "FedEx breaks the business rules" and "is digging his own tomb by losing credibility among customers".

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
